Download Renko Charting Suite For MetaTrader 4

(Click To Download Zig_Renko_v147.exe)

UPDATE 8/26/2013 :: For those interested in a fully automated version of the Forex Renko suite – I’ve written and uploaded an article that you need to read. I’ve completed the first version of a semi-automatic set up using 100% custom software. My personal Renko trading has improved dramatically with this new approach, and would be of great interest to those of you looking for your computer to do more of the work. CHECK IT OUT BY CLICKING HERE – only 20 people will be accepted.

NOTE: You must have MetaTrader 4 downloaded and installed on your computer before downloading and installing the ZIG Renko Charting Package!  If you do not know what MetaTrader 4 is, or do not know where to get it, there are links below in the installation instructions.

Installation Instructions:

  1. If you haven’t yet, download and install the MetaTrader 4 platform.  The MetaTrader 4 platform is a FREE forex trading platform, and is available from 90%+ of US based forex brokers.  If you do not know where to get this software, you can download MetaTrader 4 from a very reputable broker (FXDD) by CLICKING HERE.
  2. Click the download link above (or click HERE) to download the ZIG Renko Charting Suite.  You can either right-click on the link and select “Save Target As..”, or simply click the link and click the “Save” button.  Make sure you save this file somewhere easy to find (suck as your Desktop)
  3. After the ZIG Renko Charting Suite has been downloaded, locate this file (should have saved it somewhere easy to find) and double-click the file to run the installer.
  4. Follow the directions in the installer.  NOTE: You MUST be connected to the Internet when installing the software.
  5. Fill in your First name, Last name, and Email address in the installer when prompted
  6. The software will immediately send you a software key to the email address you specify.  Check your email, and copy the software key into the installer window when prompted.   This will un-lock your software, and allow you to finish the installation
  7. Once the installation is finished, shut down and re-start your MetaTrader 4 platform (if it is running).  The software is now installed, and you can begin going through the training! To view the training videos, scroll to the top of the page and click on the “Training” tab. The “Information” tab holds information pertaining to all things Renko.

NOTE: To see a video of the installation process, CLICK HERE (or navigate to the “Training” page by clicking on the “Training” tab at the top of this page.  The “Installation” video will be the first video in the series).

If you have any problems installing, please send an email to support@forexrenko.com for additional help.  Keep in mind this is a FREE piece of software, so we may have quite a bit of volume in our support inbox.  If you send me an email, please allow a couple of days for a response. I am indeed full time Forex trader and programmer, so my days are usually pretty busy. I will get back with each of you as quickly as I can and get to you all though :-)

Thank you, Kevin, for developing this product…..especially thank you for developing it for FREE!!
Now there are a few definite IMPROVEMENTS I would suggest…….

    1) When using colors, the color is splashed all over the place on the renko bars – big squares of it. This is probably easiest for the computer but is unfriendly to the eye.
Could you re-write the color part of the software so that ONLY the renko bricks are filled with color (as in traditional bricks)…??
That would look so much more professional, more natural and much easier on the eye!!

    2) As a retired school teacher, I know that white backgrounds are superior because they are less tiring on the eye and also give greater resolution.
Therefore, could you add a few lines of programming to allow the bricks have black outlines on a white background….??

Thanks for reading…….Tymen, Perth, Western Australia.

      Thanks for your suggestions Tymen!

      1) That makes sense – the current way it’s designed is that it shows each individual box as a transparent “square” object with the left and right portions of the colored box placed as the length of time it takes the renko box to ‘play out’ before the next is drawn – sort of to give a “birds eye view” of the style of charting with time incorporated back in. I just found that creating the box to encompass both time and how high/low the prices goes, it gives much more information. It’s best to only use the colored portion of that particular indicator if you are zoomed out quite far, as it’s best displayed as a far out view of what is happening. I can definitely take your idea into consideration as an update, and give it a switch so you can turn that feature on and off.

      2) Sure, that seems like something that should be simple. I’ll make a note and push it in the next update

      Thanks again!

      -Kevin

      Hello George,

Thank you for your kind words :-) Tonight, I wrote a lengthy paper describing why some systems (including Renko) don’t make logical sense in a fully automated system. Also, I explain something that is MUCH better than full automation in this case, and how you can apply it to your trading:

I hope it sheds some light on the whole situation :) Thanks!

    Kevin,
Thanks so much for your excellent software. Am still experimenting with it to try to come up with a consistent strategy.

One idea I’m working on is this – if I put the Mash on a chart (where RenkoBox = 40 / MultiStart = 20 / MultiEnd = 500 / MultiStep = 30), when the Mash indicator reaches either the top or the bottom of its range (where the range for each timeframe differs – for example in one timeframe the highest/lowest of the range could be +-16.1 or +-17.6, whereas for another timeframe it could be +-8, though usually the highest/lowest value would exceed +-10), it becomes a possible indicator for a big trend reversal.

My idea/question for you is this – is it possible, when you have time, to look into building an addition visible warning sign/feature to the already excellent Mash indicator, to have an additional alert or signal somewhere on the chart that shows when the Mash value of different timeframes have ALL come into agreement in either their high’s or their low’s (i.e. the Mash indicator of Monthly, Weekly, Daily, H4, H1 and may be even 30m have ALL reached the extreme end of their respective ranges). When such a scenario happens, it might be highly likely that the price of the pair has reached either the medium-term top or the bottom and is getting ready to exhibit a powerful trend reversal at any time.

For example, let’s say the USDJPY price had been dropping for a long time in the last few months, and at one point, the Mash for the Monthly dropped down to the lowest value of -17.6 and stayed there. After some time, the Mash value for the Weekly also dropped down to -17.6 (or 16 or whatever is the historical low value of the range for the Weekly USDJPY) and continued to stay there. After yet some time, the Mash value for the Daily and the H4 also came to their lowest values based on historic values in their ranges (e.g. -16). When finally the H1 Mash value also came to its lowest value, this additional signal or alert which I am suggesting for you will give a visible+audible warning to the trader that there is now a confluence (match) in the Mash values of most of the higher timeframes reaching their lowest Mash values, and that any time from that point on the price would rebounce. The probability of such a rebounce would be exceedingly high, because usually such a confluence would not happen for quite some time.

If such an additional feature can be built into the Mash, traders may be able to trade off such signals even without the Fast indicator.

An alternative is to create an offline alert to be opened as an offline chart which does not show the price but only shows the values and the colors (redder color for lower Mash value, greener for higher Mash value) of the Mash indicator for different timeframes:
    Monthly – Most Red
    Weekly – Most Red
    Daily – Very Red
    H4 – Red
    H1 – Orange
    30m – Yellow
Overall – -90% (shows the extent of all timeframes reaching their lowest range values; where the maximum is +-100%)

This would enable traders to see at a glance the overall Mash values of all timeframes in one offline indicator/dashboard. As well, this “across-the-board Mash indicator” might become a powerful medium- to long-term trend indicator with results which other indicators cannot replicate.

If you have question about this idea, please email me directly.

      Adrian,

Thank you for your well thought out response and suggestions! I’ll be making some updates to the Zig Renko suite shortly – in the mean time, I’ve been working on a semi-automatic approach to trading the indicators that have pretty much changed the way that I look at the system itself, and it’s trading possibilities. I wrote a paper on it and posted it here on the server. You can find it here:

      http://www.forexrenko.com/?page_id=22

I go into great detail about what I do to trade the system, custom mods I’ve made, and how it works.

I’ll let you know when the next update comes out

      August 17th, 2012 at 22:45 | #35

You’ll have to look in your “Scripts” section – the Renko bricks is a script that will create an offline chart for you. Attach the script to the lowest timeframe chart possible (for the best accuracy) and go to File->Open Offline… and select your renko chart (example: EURUSD will be EURUSD_rko)

I just come across your site after I was searching for EA based on Renko charting , and found your indicators and I have to say you have done a great Job, I can see already that this can be made in to EA , after reding all the comments on your blog and you mentioned that you actually have made it , I would like to know if you have done any more testing on it, I would love to try it , as I don’t have much time to be in the front of computer, I am working hard and I think this would help lot of us here, if it was automated and profitable , looking at your charting method it is just perfect , I don’t think anybody here would disagree , and I definitely would not blame you for any loses, judging by your ethics and your work detail , most of us would be so grateful for it, for such help , most of us have been scammed by scammers, it is so nice to come across a genuine person with your ability to help us to try to make some money , I and most of us would appreciate this so much Kevin , if your time permits .

    Thank you so much,

      Tony,
It is always good to hear that people are making good use of my software and ideas – thank you for taking the time to write! I have indeed made an EA with these indicators (a simple renko EA that is traded on a static renko brick chart) using basic entry and exit rules as a “proof of concept”. I intend to take the next logical step and create a fully functioning auto-trading piece of software that utilizes the MASH indicator and that specific idea (will more than likely be a script as opposed to an EA – a script can do everything an EA can do if put into a loop, except it has the capability of executing instructions based on time rather than waiting for new ticks to come in). I’m quite sure that a long term system can be made from this, and with the proper money management and error checking, can be an absolutely amazing “set and forget” auto-trading system capable of picking and following trends with high accuracy. I may even go as far as to add some of the “out of the box” things I’ve created, such as fully animated GIFs showing you X amount of time before and after the trade is placed, remote cell phone notification complete with screenshots, and much more!

With all of the time and effort I would put into something like this, I may have no choice but to have to charge for it in order to make up for lost time. Of course, I would keep the cost low (less than 100 bucks for the whole thing)…and I would only do it if you guys would be open to it, and not immediately label me some sort of “scammer” or “marketer” just out to make a quick buck. I’d much rather hold off on both the time and the effort if it would cause a negative outlook on me or my work…but honestly, if you guys are sincerely open to it, I can package together a HECK of an auto-trading renko “plugin suite” to help those out who are unable to trade this system manually :-)

Let me know what you guys think! It would be great to hear back from you on this one.

      -Kevin

    Hi there,

I only discovered the Renko charts this weekend and have already started testing and reviewing various charts with it. I would want to thank you guys for these indicators as you have made things more clearer especially with the Renko Mash which I intend to use as a trigger before initiating any new trade. As good as these indicators are would it be possible to code something around the Renko Mash to raise alerts like emails once the histogram values turns positive or negative. All the same you have done a very good job and respect your generosity in sharing this to the public moreover, the Renko method of trading proves there are real pips to be made as all the comments i’ve read about it’s use are all positive.
Once again thanks for sharing and more greasesssssssssssssss.

Hi Kevin and everyone, First and foremost, a BIG thank you to Kevin for giving us this software. I have just installed it and can see how valuable it is going to be, especially the MASH. I have not been having much luck with FX using some expensive systems that people have sold me – I was about to give up! Anyway, I hope that the Renko system will make some money for me. My question is, is there a consensus about what settings to use for the MASH, in particular to optimise the zero crossing points. I have 10, 200, 10 at the moment, and seems to work well on the usd/eur. Im guessing that different settings should be used depending on the pairs. Anyone got any suggestions?

    Many thanks,
    David

    June 14th, 2012 at 15:59 | #53

    Kevin,
    I have an update:

I am currently writing a trading plan using the Renko Mash as the ONLY indicator. Renko Fast is on the charts too but not for providing signals. I’m using the 4hr charts and Mash to provide the signal and using a 30 min chart and Mash for confirmation. I requested earlier for an alert for when the indicator crosses zero. I would like to amend that request and ask that the value of the indicator alert be user definable. I have different levels on the 4hr charts vs the 30 min chart that I would like to be alerted to. I’m still using trendlines to exit. The only thing that I don’t have that I need is the alerts to make my trading plan complete.

So Kevin, I was wondering if adding the alerts to the Mash is very high on the list of things to do and if so, would it be released in say about a couple of weeks? If not, I guess I’ll have to find a coder and pay to have it done, no big deal.

    Happy Trends!
    SatchFan :)

    May 31st, 2012 at 15:50 | #54

    Kevin,

Congratulations on writing these excellent indicators! I have been trading since 1997 and I found these to be very useful! Most of the indicators I have seen over the years are just crap, but these have some great value! I have been playing around with some of the settings and have found some that work for me. Your observation about buying/selling when crossing zero on the mash indicator is pretty good. But, instead of holding the position(s) until it crosses back over zero, I prefer to use a trendline break to signal when to get out. (4 hour charts) Currently I’m using a free EA called Tipster Trendlines to manage that process.

The Renko Fast indicator is very interesting also. It’s interesting to see how the market will retrace back to the lines of the Fast indicator when set at the correct number for that market! A 75 pip setting is a good place to start for the forex pairs.

Anyway, I have 2 requests for changes that I would like for you to consider to do in the very near future. I know your probably a very busy guy, but I think you could do these 2 in a very short matter of time if you set your mind to it.

Change #1. Please add a user defined option in the Mash indicator for an alert for emails/texts/sound for when the indicator crosses zero. This is simply a must have option. No one can sit at the computer (or vps) all day watching if this has happened. I know Peter has already mentioned adding this feature but it’s just so important I wanted to mention it again. I really do believe this option is a must to trade the Mash setup correctly!

Change #2. On the Fast indicator, could you add a user defined option for where to place the Multi Box information on the chart. I would prefer to have it show on the right side of my charts as I use the “Chart Shift” function and would prefer the Multi-box info go on the right as to not plot over the price bars and the Renko Fast box lines.

I would give it a try to add these features myself (even though I’m not really a coder, more of a hacker lol) but since you have your indicators locked down tighter than Alcatraz (I don’t blame you) I’m not able to give it a try. I hope you find it in your heart and schedule to make the time to add these features, ESPECIALLY the zero cross alert to the Mash as I truly believe it is a must!

Thank You for reading this and a Big Thank You for posting these and making it free! These really are very useful indicators, Especially the Mash! I hope you can find the time to amend them very soon!

    Happy Trends!

    Kevin,

Only now (5/24/2012) came across this site and can’t believe you’re doing this for (choke!) free?! About to download and looking forward to learning. Not at all as successful as hoped with regular bevy of indicators both piad for and free. Your site seems like a breath of fresh air – ie. no hype, no forward sales, no stupid promises, etc. Thanks for your kindness and generosity. Will update when put into play and let you know the results.

      Mark,

That’s the beauty of P-Zig (my company)! Here’s a little known “fun fact” about the forex market. The forex market IS real, there is NO scam with the market itself – you CAN indeed make a virtually limitless amount of money. Seriously. It can be one of the absolute best ways in the entire world to make money. Unfortunately, because of the possibility of unbelievably high returns, there are MANY scams and liars/cheaters out there. It happens ALL the time. I’ve actually done work for these guys before, not knowing that I was helping to code something that was purely for marketing purposes, and had nothing to do with helping people to make money legitimately. Once I found out, I was discusted..appauled…and vowed to never do it again.
I have the coding expertise to make pretty much any piece of software for MT4 (I’ve made over 12 million dollars in forex software over the years…), and since many of you have been ripped off by these so-called “traders” promising unrealistic gains and delivering nothing….I don’t see a point in charging money for those things that I feel will really help you guys become better traders. That’s what we are all here for – to make money…NOT to give it away to somebody who has a piece of crap that they say will make you a millionaire, yet have never traded a day in their lives. The industry (you guys..my people!) has been SO good to me, I feel this is the best way that I can give back. Enjoy, and I really hope it brings you my kind of success!

      Philip,

You need to make sure, when installing, that you are selecting the appropriate directory. See the installation video – when you get to the directory screen in the installer, simply make sure that you click “Browse” and select the directory of your MetaTrader 4 program you wish to install the Renko Suite to.

I’ll make sure the support staff looks through and finds your email. When you install Simple Forex Tester, you’ll need to make sure you’re selecting the proper MT4 directory. When you get to the directory screen in the installer, click “Browse” and make sure that you’ve selected the proper MT4 installation.

      Fran,

The indicators/plugins (Zig Renko Charting Suite) are made for MetaTrader 4. While MetaTrader 4 is a Windows/PC program, you can definitely have it work on a MAC. All you need to do is install MetaTrader 4 on your MAC, and you’re ready to go! By the same means, you should be able to run the installer as well. Usually, this is accomplished by attaching what is called a “Windows Emulator” (such as WINE) to your Mac system. Then, you can run both MetaTrader 4 as well as the Zig Renko Charting Suite! You can find more information by going to Google and type in “MetaTrader 4 Mac”. The top few results will be what you are looking for (I believe there is even a YouTUBE video showing you how to do it). I hope this helps! If you need anything else, please let me know.

You are a MT4 programmer, have you attempted to program these indicators into an EA yet? Can this be done with Renko? An EA is a very quick way of testing strategies over particular time / market conditions etc.

    • admin
      February 13th, 2012 at 22:56 | #87

Thanks for taking the time to write in :-)

I have indeed taken the time to code this into an EA, but ONLY for the purposes of testing the indicators themselves to make sure they were stable enough for release, and to check the concept to make sure that it was strong enough to actually pull in a profit. I have both proven that the indicators are sound, and the theory is sound as well. The EA itself was not meant to trade on a live account, but was meant to run in the Strategy Tester part of MT4. While the EA can be adapted to actually trade live, I haven’t quite had the time to complete it to that point yet.

I’ll do this for you though. In the event that I actually do get the renko EA to the point where I’m comfortable with it, I’ll pass it along to each and every one of the Zig Renko users free of charge. Remember, I’m only in this to make sure everybody has a fair chance of success in the forex game, and I truly believe that the Zig Renko Charting Suite helps you to achieve just that (plus, you can’t beat the price either!).

The cheviot to this is obviously I will NOT be held responsible for absolutely any loss that happens on your account. I can build all of the tools I want to and pass them out, but the last thing I want is for somebody to blame me for any losses that happen.

So, with that in mind, I’ll definitely pass it on to you guys if I ever get it to that point :-)

    Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the software. I downloaded it into my MT4 but could not find the Renko indicators in the custom indicator section.
There was no error message during the installation so I’m assuming the installation is ok. Appreciate your help.

    • admin
      February 6th, 2012 at 16:22 | #89

      Jas,

Usually, this means that you installed it in the “wrong place”. When installing, when it gets to the directory where you should install it, make SURE this directory is the MT4 directory in which you want to install the indicators. If it’s located at “C:\Program Files\FXDD – MetaTrader 4″ then make sure you hit “browse” when it asks for the directory and point it in that location.

    hi kevin

thanks for your gift.. ı have used renko mash with some pairs(mostly 15 minutes) and gold 15m too. first ı had realized in gold that it was repainted. let me explain : ı got bars to down below in r.mash which means it changed its direction then a few bar later r.mash gave signal to another direction. everything is ok. but later ı checked the chart and realized that downword signal turned to up. it totally gone it doesnt seem downword signal anymore . ı hope ı could make it clear. ı dont know may be it is gold(volatility) but when ı saw this ı disappointed about it. ı stopped to fallow it with other pairs. does it repaint or do ı have something wrong with me?thanks anyway kevin

    • admin
      January 30th, 2012 at 20:00 | #91

      Ali,
The indicator itself should never repaint — you may be looking at the volatility of the pair (gold). When you get a signal, or it crosses the 0 line, there may be a chance during hte same bar where the currency pair switches direction and you get a signal to go in the other direction. I usually like to wait until the bar has closed, and we have a definite reversal before making any decisions (I don’t normally make decisions intra-bar).

Thank you, and keep the comments coming!

      January 9th, 2012 at 15:44 | #96

      Charlie,

I’ll definitely take a look at why it’s taking so long for you to get a response. That does seem abnormally slow — the first thing that I tell people (and seems to fix 90% of the cases) is to check your Strategy Tester window inside of MT4. There is a slider at the bottom of this window that control’s Strategy Tester’s speed. Make sure that this slider is ALL THE WAY UP to the 32 number. If not, then Strategy Tester will run VERY slowly, and in turn Simple Forex Tester will run much slower than normal.

      December 22nd, 2011 at 19:04 | #99

      Randy,

That’s a very odd thing to have happen — all of the software that I give out is “independent” from one another. This means that no one piece of software is necessary, or even “tied”, to another. So if one is removed, all the others should stay there. Sounds to me like some sort of “roll back” on your computer, or maybe some anti-virus put your files back where they were before you started installing my software.

Go ahead and re-download the software from this page — if you need a list of all of the gifts I’ve been giving out, then just email me and let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

      Ralph,

Thank you for your kind words :) Time based charts create too much clutter in my humble opinion. Let me know how it works out for you!

    Hi Kevin,

I can only get Renko offline to work, but the other fast/mash indicators will not show in my list of custom indicators.

    Can you please help?

    Thanks

Thanks Kevin for taking the time and effort to program this free trad able software. The thing I like about this software is the option to trade the colors. One question if I want the option to switch to actually see little Renko bricks being developed on the chart, which input value do I have to change?

Nice, thanks a lot, BUT I found some small bugs:
renko-script & renko-fast draw different graphs(not the same h/l) when set to same settings(and the offline-chart does not update).
the on screeen text and the renko-mash do not show the same information when set to the same settings.
on screen I have 5 box-sizes. then all of them say:UP the mash displays a 4 and not the expected 5.
could send you screenshot, but don´t know how.
one wish for renko-fast to be even more usable: dotted lines(with on/off switch) which show where the next box would be drawn.

Your renko mash looks to be a brilliant idea and I would love to use it on equities. I currently run Ninja Trader with the native renko bars included in version 7. Will you be offering your indicators for other platforms or is their any workarounds to get your current stuff to work in Ninja? Thanks

      Wanda,

I am thinking about it, I have basically “mastered” MT4 which is why it’s written in that language. I will certainly be looking at adding different platforms.

The Renko Mash indicator is already on the site — on the main page (http://www.forexrenko.com) you’ll find the download button. Renko Mash is actually in the install file :-)

Some of my favorite things to do with it is to use Renko Mash in order to give me trend direction. Once I have that established, I can use stop losses and take profits the size of my boxes (renko on chart indicator) and actually ride the trends for quite some time! I’ll be making more videos soon outlaying exactly how I go about placing trades with these indicators.

    Hi Kevin,

many thanks for sharing your strategy and indicators – excellent! May I ask which your preferred box size is and what your entry and exit rules are?

Thanks again, very kind of you to share.

      Nick,

Hello! I really don’t have a “preferred” box size as my favorite thing to do is to simply attach the indicator, and begin flipping through the different box sizes to see if something “jumps out and grabs me”. Watch the video on Renko Mash for a simple system with Entry and Exit rules. I’m so glad you’ve gotten some good information and tools from my site — pay it forward!

    Hi Kevin
Great work and thanks for sharing – love the clean charts.
Just one issue and that’s that the Renko-Offline doesn’t update in real time so it’s not possible to trade off without constantly re-running the script. Once it’s painted it’s static. Now, if you could fix that or tell me what I’m missing then Wow!

I have been looking for Renko charts the past few days and reading reviews. I happened to stumble on yours this morning. I’m excited to get home and install on my main trading computer and test drive this baby! Am I able to use the same activation key on another laptop that I have or do I have to use another email address to get another activiation key?

I’m glad that you are looking to use the Zig Renko Charts to supplement your trading!
You can use the same email address when you put it on your computer at home — you will have to go through the process of installing again, but you can use the same email (once you use your key, it becomes invalid..you will be issued a new one even though you use the same email address).
If you have any problems installing, then let me know!

A very innovative concept indeed however I have not been able to get the MASH indicator to show anything other than a blank indicator window? Is there some trick to making it show the histogram you illustrated in your video presentation?

      Phil,
Terribly sorry — there was a small bug causing this not to work on certain computers. I have fixed the bug, and now you’re ready to go! Simply re-download and install the software following the same instructions you originally did.

    Igor,

That’s a wonderful idea :-) I’m quite busy as of late (a 7 month old baby is quite a bit more work than I initially thought!) so I can do my best to form the web site in a way where people will benefit from it. We can start a discussion – what does everybody think? Does anybody else have additional suggestions?
